Course Outlines: Human Sciences

Modules I & II
Anatomy/Physiology & Pathology
Module III
Differential Diagnosis

The Institute offers a certificated, comprehensive home study program in Human Sciences.
The Institute recognizes the importance of a firm understanding in the medical sciences for all Natural Health Practitioners. Each of our courses are written by qualified medical practitioners with many years experience, and qualified medical practitioners are assigned as individual tutors.

Course Duration: The duration of studies is calculated at approximately 3 months each for Module I and II (Anatomy/Physiology, and Pathology), and 12 months for Module III (Differential Diagnosis).

Eligibility
There are no specific entry requirements for this program of orthodox medicine, which is designed to support and enhance homeopathic studies and practice, or courses and practice of other complementary therapies, such as Nutrition, Herbology, Bach-Flower, etc. The course may be commenced at any time, and may be studied concurrently with other courses of the Institute.  Either Module may be taken separately or in combination. These three Modules are requisite for the study towards the Practitioner Diploma in Homeopathy.

Syllabus

Module I, Anatomy/Physiology: Cardio-vascular System; Respiratory System; Gastrointestinal System; Urinary System; Endocrine System; Nervous System; The Skin; Muscular—Skeletal System; Lymphatic System; Blood; Genital and Reproductive System; Special Senses (Ears, Nose and Eyes).

Module II, Pathology: Pathology; Hahnemannian Concept of Disease; Human Environmental Interaction; Miasms; Genetics; Immune System and Immune Diseases; Nutrition; Infections; Environmental and Occupational Disease; Allergies; Degenerative Diseases; Cancer and AIDS; Stress Related and Mental Disorders; Epidemiology; Diseases of Children; Diseases of Women; Illnesses Related to Ageing.

Module III, Differential Diagnosis: This substantial course is aimed at providing the confidence to the non-medically trained Practitioner to not miss potentially serious medical conditions that may require urgent medical care or treatment, and to feel secure in knowing when to refer clients to a medical practitioner for either check up or intervention. This course is considered a most important aspect of study with the Institute and is requisite for the study towards the Practitioner Diploma.  It provides a bridging of the gap in education between allopathic medicine and natural health therapies.

The course consists of 27 Lessons with 10 Test Papers and two Exams, Midterm and Final. Clinical examples and questions provide insight into allopathic methods and thought. On completion of the course the student will have the confidence to recognize problematic conditions and will have a deeper understanding of the severity of certain conditions and the need for referral to a medical care taker.

Syllabus
Introduction; Revision of Surface Anatomy; Initial Observation; Clinical Measurements; Lumps and Swellings; Injuries; Infections; Skin Conditions I—IV; Eyes and Face; ENT, Teeth, Head and Neck; Neurology and Geriatric Medicine; Back and Limbs; Chest; Abdomen; Female System; Pregnancy; Children; Psychiatric Conditions and Emergencies; Occupational Diseases; Endocrine System; Rheumatic Disorders; Cancer; Clinical Observations; Key Guide to Warning Symptoms.

Eligibility
Human Science Modules may be taken by anyone working or intending to work within the Natural Health Care field.

Award:  Certificates will be awarded on successful completion of the individual Modules.
